A lovely spooky tale. I couldn’t stop remembering my childhood days where I heard similar stories and shared similar fear 🙂

“The conspiracy of women. We are in it together, make no mistake.”

Spanning 150 years, story oscillates between 3 timelines. 1845, 1919 and 1998.
1845, Frederick Douglass, a black American slave comes to Ireland to spread the word about freedom.
1919, Two pilots brave the first Transatlantic Flight from St. John’s, Newfoundland, to the west of Ireland.
1998, An American Senator George Mitchell tries to bring peace in Ireland.
And a final chapter where all the three timelines and stories get linked.

“What was a life anyway? An accumulation of small shelves of incident.”

Beautifully written, personifying every character with ease and honesty that It will stay in my heart. Always.

The Flight Attendant by Chris Bohjalian

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

****4.5****

I like Chris Bohjalian books. They are usually mysteries based on mental health/condition. They twist my imagination. This book really kept me on my edge.

“Remember that person you wanted to be? There’s still time.”

Cassie, a 40 year old alcoholic, unmarried, flight attendant wakes up with a dead man in Dubai Hotel. She remembers flirting with him in the plane, going to his hotel room and having sex but not killing him! She starts hiding the facts and telling lies again and again. And the plot moves towards the ups and downs of Cassie’s life, both past and present.

“…The plain unvarnished reality that we cannot escape who we are and most of the time we die as we lived.”

The book was a real page turner but the ending felt a bit off and too dramatic to digest. Other than that a real good book.
