Daughter of the Empire (The Empire Trilogy, #1)Daughter of the Empire by Raymond E. Feist

****5.0****
First book of “The Empire Trilogy” is a wonderful book. I loved every inch of it.
This trilogy comes as a part of “Riftwar Cycle” and the preceding trilogy was set in a fantasy world like ours. But this one is set in Kelewan, the world that was opened as a result of a rift in the world.

Kelewan is ruled by Warlords and Warlords come in to ruling with winning “game of councils” or politics. Mara, has become the lady of Acoma recently as her Father and Brother both died in a battle. And it is up to her intelligence to stay alive and keep Acoma alive. She has to plot ahead if she and her house has to survive.

The lack of Female Characters in “The Riftwar Saga” is fulfilled here. The story revolves around a female ruler “Mara”. I loved the twists and the game of councils (as they call it). There is no magic but just politics and the game.
Strong characters and intelligent plot of politics makes this book very interesting. A Political Fantasy!!!

A Darkness At Sethanon (The Riftwar Saga #4) by Raymond E. Feist

A Darkness At Sethanon (The Riftwar Saga, #4)A Darkness At Sethanon by Raymond E. Feist
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

****5.0****

The last book in The Riftwar Saga is a concluding part for the evil that was raising in the last book. Here Murmandamus is rising in full force after a year’s hibernation. Arutha is still tormented by Murmandamus in different ways.

Arutha comes across traitor branded Guy du Bas-Tyra as the protector of the city Armengar which is threatened by the dark army of Murmandamus. They all figure out what Murmandamus is behind of! So they team up against Murmandamus.

And Pug who was left out in Edder (Elvan province in Kelewan) has come back and with Tomas’s aid is in journey to find Marcos the Black. There is a lot of lore and legends behind fighting the darkness or evil that is trying to evade Midkemia. Pug, Tomas and Marcos join Arutha and party in Sethanon to fight Murmandamus. Awesome plot and characters (especially Jimmy) and magic. The series is concluded with style and grandeur.

Silverthorn (The Riftwar Saga #3) by Raymond E. Feist

Silverthorn (The Riftwar Saga, #3)Silverthorn by Raymond E. Feist

After a year of Riftwar, finally it seems that the peace restored in MidKemia. But dark power is rising. Moredhel , Goblins and other dark creatures are being assembled under a dark entity called Murmandamus. His minion are known as Nighthawks and are pledged under his loyalty. He has powers like bringing back the dead Nighthawks and unleash some dark magic that no one ever saw.
When Anita is hit by a poisoned dart on her wedding day (that was actually meant for Arutha), Arutha goes on a quest to find a remedy with a few willing and trustworthy friends. One of them is Jimmy the Hand, a renounced thief of Krondor.

The friendship between Arutha and Jimmy is remarkable and most enjoyable in the book. They are the main characters here and I loved them. There are Pug and Tomas too and along with them comes a great deal of magic. This is a very enjoyable read with witty and amusing dialogues. There are zombies too ( a bonus point !!!) Just hoping for more Jimmyness in the coming book 🙂

Magician: Master by Raymond E. Feist

Magician: Master (The Riftwar Saga #2)Magician: Master by Raymond E. Feist

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

***4.5***

Pug enslaved by Tsurani, works as a slave in Kelewan (the other world) until his magical powers are recognized by the “Great Ones” of Kelewan. Great Ones are the magicians of Kelewan who are above all.
Tomas is gifted a sword and Mail from the Dragon whom he befriended in the Dwarf tunnels. But soon we find out that the sword is a magical one and belongs to a dragon lord “Valheru”, who has his own story to tell and he is controlling Tomas. It is up to Pug who is called “Milamber” in Kelewan to close the rift between two worlds and end the war.

This Part has all the magic and complex twists and turns that were missing in the first part of the book. It feels good to see Pug and Tomas, two main characters of the story grow and become adults. This book was is also called as “Milamber and Valharu”, No wonder!!! The Title says it all.
There are very less female characters and very conservative on that. Not a single lady fights, all the ladies are treasured and kept safe which I felt odd for a Epic fantasy tale.

A well-crafted, imaginative, enthralling Epic Tale. 🙂

Magician: Apprentice (The Riftwar Saga #1) by Raymond E. Feist

Magician: Apprentice (The Riftwar Saga, #1)Magician: Apprentice by Raymond E. Feist

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

****4.0****

Epic tale set in Crydee, a town that belongs to Kingdom of Isles. An orphan Pug becomes master Magician’s Apprentice. Same time there is a rift opened up between the worlds and there is attack on Crydee. The war between two worlds, distorts the peace. Tomas, Pug’s best friend is set to become a warrior. But when a confrontation with the other worlders and their strange magic and war rules Crydee is baffled. Pug in the end is taken by the Tsuranuanni (other world) people.

The story is set in Midkemia, a world created by Feist. This first part is like an introduction to the world, it’s people and customs. Nothing very major happens with very less magic. But there are Dwarfs, Elves, Trolls, Goblins etc which makes the setting very interesting. I loved this world. I always love a slow moving story with slow town and simple minded characters.
Though this is only the part one of the first book ( which i didn’t know), it is forgivable to have very less action here.

Very well written book with many good elements. It could have been shorter as there are two parts. But altogether a worthy read 🙂
