This was a dark with royal politics. Jude, after a coup against the High King of Fae, Carden is the new High King of Fae. Jude secretly controls him and is his new minister. But it is she who is running the Faerie kingdom. She is also fallen against Madoc, her step father and is drawn into family politics.
Jude is constantly at odds with Cardan, who does not miss a chance to humiliate her. And at the same time Jude struggles with the fact that Oak is the heir to Faerie and she must keep her younger brother safe. Meanwhile, Jude finds out that someone is going to betray her and she must find the traitor before they could potentially ruin her plans or lose her life in the process.
There are a lot of plot twists and keeps a reader on the verge of losing it. Black’s writing is good and crisp. This book is enchanting and bloodthirsty.
